The Redwood High vs. Petaluma High Varsity game went to the home half of the seventh inning with the Redwood Giants down 2 runs, 4-2.
They had never led in the game and had committed three errors. Petaluma’s bench was confident, spirited and loud, just as they should have been.
After a pair of singles and a two-out triple tied the game, Petaluma elected to load the bases intentionally, walking the 3 and 4 hitters in the lineup to face Cameron Hussain.
Hussain responded by driving a solid single back up the middle to win the game and was joyously swarmed and tackled by his elated teammates between first and second bases.
Welcome back, baseball. I’ve missed you.
